RUN FOR YOUR WIFE COMES TO COWICHAN BAY Director Barbara Simkins' seasoned cast will mount playwright Ray Cooney's 1984 comedy at Cowichan Bay Farm as Dinner Theatre Under The Stars Aug. 3rd to 5th. Hijinx surround taxi driver John Smith (Pete Rose) who uses his quirky work schedule to juggle two wives in different London homes. "It's a split set with two houses and John flits from one house to the other and does a lot of dialling on two phones, " says actor Malcolm Bennett. "When John's at one house, the other wife's looking for him" Wife Mary is portrayed by Jennifer Lally while John's second spouse, Barbara, is played by Susan Wood. Bennett is cast as Stanley, John's upstairs neighbour: "I try to help John get out of trouble, but he just gets in worse". The cabby's marital caper is rocked after helping an old lady being mugged by two thugs. John receives a knock on the noggin and "forgets which house he is supposed to be at", says Bennett. Neil Morton plays Porterhouse the cop while Ian Gibson depicts the policeman Troughton. Don Miller portrays John's gay neighbour Bobby Franklin.
